Lifting the Danish industry onto a global market.

The Danish delegation to gamescom

Gamescom, held annually in Cologne, Germany, is the world’s largest event for computer and video games and Europe’s most important business platform for the games industry. It serves as a central arena for exchange between developers, publishers, policymakers, and the wider public, making it far more than a trade show.

For the Danish games industry, having a strong delegation present at gamescom is essential: it underlines Denmark as a serious player on the international stage, opens doors to production partnerships, publishing deals, and investment conversations that simply wouldn’t happen anywhere else, and it ensures that Danish studios and talent remain visible and competitive in an increasingly crowded global market.

Gamescom is far more than a showcase for the latest games. It is the beating heart of the global games industry. Each year, over 350,000 visitors from more than 120 countries descend on Cologne, alongside more than 1,500 exhibitors spanning 233,000 square meters, making it the world’s single most important meeting point for publishers, developers, investors, and platform holders. Deals are struck, partnerships are formed, and publishing contracts are signed in the corridors and meeting rooms that run alongside the showfloor.

But the significance of gamescom extends well beyond business: the event has become a key arena for policymakers too, with the European Commission using gamescom to engage directly with the industry, launching EU-wide studies on the economic, cultural, and social impact of games, and curating dialogue with member states to identify common priorities for the sector. With over 3 billion players worldwide and expected global revenues surpassing $189 billion, the games industry is one of the most dynamic creative economies in the world, and gamescom is where you can get involved with it.

The Danish delegation at gamescom is the largest games export delegation Denmark has ever assembled, and it reflects the true breadth and depth of creativity and innovation that defines the Danish games industry today. We gather everyone from indie studios experimenting with the boundaries of storytelling to established developers delivering world-class titles. The delegation paints a picture of a sector that has quietly become one of Denmark’s most internationally celebrated creative forces.

Organised in collaboration with Dansk Erhverv and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the delegation is a statement of ambition; one that Games Denmark hopes will not go unnoticed. As the industry continues to grow as a driver of both cultural export and economic value, we call on politicians and media alike to recognise the games industry for what it is: one of Denmark’s most dynamic and internationally competitive creative sectors.
