Welcome to Games Denmark x WIKI writing workshop (Skrivestue), where you can help write more Danish games into history!
Games Denmark has established a collaboration with Wikipedia Denmark, so that more games, studios, and passionate individuals can earn a well-deserved place on Wikipedia. With this collaboration, we are launching a continuous archiving project to ensure greater recognition for the Danish games industry.
After the sweeping success of the first event, where more than 20 people came out to write about games, people and studios, we are happy to announce the next event!
15.00 – Arrival and setup
15.15 – Introduction to Skrivestue and the Wikipedia community (feat. Ashley Kelleher)
15.20 – Presentation by Mark Staun Poulsen, PhD Fellow in Game Development
15.50 – Onboarding, login, and first editing for those who are new to it
16.00-18.00 – Writing about Danish games (in groups or solo)
18.00 – Goodbye and see you soon!
To create a timeline over the Danish game industry, we need to ask a lot of difficult questions: Where do you look for history? Which year marks the starting date? Which events do you include or leave out? PhD researcher Mark Staun Poulsen and Associate Professor Hanna Wirman from the IT University of Copenhagen have been exploring the past 30 years of the Danish game industry by looking at available data in news stories, national reports, museum exhibitions, and more. They have developed a first overview of key landmarks and events to tell us a story of Danish game developers. As part of Games Denmark x WIKI Writing Workshop, Mark will present their ongoing work on the timeline, share ideas on what we can hope to learn it, and open the room for discussion together with participants on what we may include in the timeline going forward.
No prior knowledge of Wikipedia editing is required. You just need to bring a laptop and the curiosity to learn something new. We will provide coffee, tea, and snacks. Everyone is welcome!
Practice makes perfect. We recommend that you decide to “go to Wiki” and get the most out of the training. You can take part in one or several workshops.
