Code of Conduct

Games Denmark is the national organisation for the Danish games industry, and our event space is a shared venue for the whole community, industry, and people interested in games. It’s a space that anyone from the industry can rent or borrow, and it can be used for meetups, workshops, conferences, networking, and everything in between.

This code of conduct applies to everyone present at all times in V19: attendees, members, visitors, organisers, speakers, volunteers, and staff.

Every conversation, every event, every introduction, every act of generosity, patience, curiosity, and respect helps shape what kind of industry we become. We want the Danish games industry to be ambitious, creative, welcoming, and worth being part of. So, when using V19 or taking part in a Games Denmark event, you have one job:

Be someone other people are glad to share the room with.

Keep that in mind, and you’ll get the rest of this right without having to think about it.

What we expect from you as a human:

// Make sure everyone feels welcome. Be mindful that invisible disabilities, neurodivergence, and mental-health challenges are common even when you can’t see them. People are different from you.

// Be tolerant. We are a community. Keep an open mind. Listen to learn rather than to win. Assume the person across from you knows something you don’t. We’re the best kind of community when we listen to each other and our differences.

// Use good judgment with anything you do, show, say and represent yourself, our industry, our shared organisation, and your company honestly and with dignity. Don’t impose your beliefs, values or humor onto others.

// Mind your alcohol intake and how it affects your behaviour.

// Look out for each other. If you’re the one making someone uneasy, read it and ease off.

Apologize if necessary. If you see it happening to someone else, don’t look away. Check in or say something. And whoever you are, do your bit to make people feel at home. Making people feel at home is everyone’s job, not just the people on either end of it.

// Treat the place as something that needs to last. That means clean up after yourself. If in doubt on whether it’s clean enough, use the following principle: leave things nicer than you found them.

What we don’t tolerate:

// Filming or photographing people who don’t want to be filmed or photographed.

// Harassment of any kind, demeaning comments, or “jokes” about someone.

// Sexual harassment and sexual content. This includes unwanted contact, sexual comments or jokes, displaying sexual imagery, nudity, pornography, sexually explicit videos or images, and unwelcome advances.

// Rude, threatening, or abusive behaviour towards any human being, whether they are participants, members, staff, volunteers, organizers, or people you don’t know.

// Trying to work around these rules on a technicality is a breach.

// If you’re asked to stop something, stop. Don’t debate things.

If something crosses a line, tell us…

Reach out to any Games Denmark person in the room, or write bipbip@gamesdenmark.dk. We take it seriously, handle it, and follow up. Raising a concern in good faith never counts against you; going after someone who does is itself a breach of this code of conduct.

Let’s make V19 and every Games Denmark event a place where people leave with new ideas, new connections, new opportunities, and the feeling that they were welcome here.

That’s the standard.
